Hillandale Volunteer Fire Department 2020 Virtual Open House
VIRTUAL TOUR OF HVFD STATION 12
Please enjoy this short video which reviews the history of the Hillandale Volunteer Fire Department. The HVFD open house is traditionally held out Station 24 every year (13216 New Hampshire Ave), so this year for our virtual open house, we decided to give you a tour of our other station, Station 12 (10617 New Hampshire Ave). Thank you to Life Member Cpt. Clime for producing this video.
STOP, DROP, AND ROLL
HVFD volunteers teach children the proper techniques to “stop, drop, and roll”. Thank you to Life Member FFII Frost for producing this video.
FILE OF LIFE
Imagine that you are injured or suffer from a medical condition that temporarily renders you unconscious or unable to communicate effectively with paramedics. Without important information about your medical history, how will first responders be able to quickly assess and treat your condition?
Please click here to print out a File of Life insert, fill it out and hang on your refrigerator. Since you can not print out the red, magnetic pouch that holds it, consider putting it in a Ziploc/plastic bag.
ESCAPE PLANNING
Make a home escape plan. Draw a map of your home showing all doors and windows. Discuss the plan with everyone in your home
Know at least TWO ways out of every room. Make sure all doors and windows leading outside open easily.
Have an outside meeting place a safe distance from the home where everyone should meet
Practice your home fire drill at night and during the day at least twice per year
Teach your children how to escape on their own in case you can’t help them
Close doors behind as you leave
